As you can see for yourself, all three mice are relatively the same in terms of specs. Due to its wireless nature, the Holey Duo weighs 79, while the DM6 Holey Trio weighs 81g. All of these mice are particularly lightweight, but the Holey S is significantly lighter and you can tell the difference.

Apart from that, all three feature the same Huano buttons, the same polling rate, and relatively the same liftoff distance. Furthermore, the side switches also feel about the same on the Holey S and Holey Trio. We did not receive the Holey Duo for review but seeing as it’s the same mouse as the Trio but with a different sensor, that’s not an issue.

So, the choice is quite simple. If you want a wired mouse with an ergonomic shape, go with the DM6 Holey S. If you need something wired, you should go with the DM6 Holey Duo or Trio.

Apart from the difference in sensors, the Trio features a Bluetooth connection in tandem with the RF receiver, while the Duo only has the RF receiver. Both are great options, depending on what you need.

Design and Construction

With the DM6 Holy Trio, we see the return of the highly comfortable ergonomic shape that was a highlight of the wired version. We’ll get to that later, let’s talk about the design and build quality first. In terms of aesthetics, this is quite a decent-looking mouse. Sure, it is visually the same as other mice with the honeycomb cutout design.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing, since that’s what gives this wireless mouse its lightweight nature. Of course, personal preference comes into play when we talk about design, but no one would mind the look of this mouse. The stealthy black coating paired with tasteful RGB lighting and the minimal logo at the top give it an understated look.

Furthermore, the uniformity of the honeycomb pattern is quite decent all around. It’s cut in half in some places due to a space restriction, but looks great, nonetheless. At the top, a tiny “DM” logo is stamped with a white font. The left side of the mouse is slightly raised than the right one. That quality is what gives this mouse an ergonomic shape.

You’ll find the usual side buttons on the left side, a DPI button below the scroll wheel, and RGB lighting that shines through that honeycomb pattern. It’s the perfect blend of both form and function. Sure, it is a lightweight mouse, but the materials are of high quality.

It’s great to see that Dream Machines is keeping up with a high standard of build quality.

Ergonomics, Shape, and Comfort

We’ve already talked about this shape in great detail during our DM6 Holey S review. As mentioned before, one of our editors still uses that mouse, just because of the comfort. It’s an ergonomic design, but one that has a safer shape than something like the Logitech G703. Don’t get me wrong, the latter has an excellent shape in its own right, but it’s not one that everyone will enjoy.

Sure, you can say that about almost any mouse on the market. For example, fans of ambidextrous mice will find it hard to adapt to an ergonomic shape. Still, with all of that said, this shape does not take much to get used to. This is because the hump and the raise of the left side of the mouse are not as aggressive as other ergonomic mice.

Now, this mouse is quite large, which won’t be a problem for people with medium-large hands. Even then, the ergonomics are good enough that even people with small hands adapt sooner rather than later. As someone with medium-large hands who uses a claw grip, this mouse feels right at home.

The palm grip feels good here as well. Some people might be able to use this with a fingertip grip, but since this is a bigger mouse, your mileage may vary. It is worth mentioning that this mouse is quite lightweight at about 81g. For a wireless gaming mouse, that’s not bad at all.

Moving on, the thumb rest area of this mouse also feels quite comfortable. It is in just the perfect position and fortunately, the honeycomb pattern does not interfere with the comfort. To sum it up, the mouse feels right in the hand, even if it does feature that honeycomb pattern. 

This is likely because the honeycomb pattern has a uniform feel to it. No area of this mouse creaks or has a rough feel to it. The DM6 Trio gets an A+ in terms of the finishing and materials. 

Finally, this mouse features a matte texture, and we’re aware that many people prefer that over a glossy finish. Of course, your preferences might be different. It is important to note that this surface does pick up fingerprints easily. Take good care of it though and it should not be an issue. 

The Return of Huano Switches

Lightweight gaming mice have been around for quite a while now, and that trend is here to stay. After all, once you aim with a lightweight mouse, it is hard to go back. Still, we’re entering that stage where the market is getting a bit stagnant again. Now, everyone is making lightweight gaming mice, and even wireless lightweight mice are common now.

At the time, the DM6 Holey S stood out to us thanks to its Huano buttons. After getting the DM6 Holey Trio in our hands, it was a treat to go back to this experience again. These crisp Huano switches set it apart from other lightweight wireless mice.

Most mice use Omron switches for the primary left and right buttons. These are the standard mechanical switches that you are likely familiar with. Huano switches are different since they feel sharper and crisper. They are utterly satisfying and still feature a lifetime of 20 million clicks.

Does It Make a Difference?

However, this is more than a gimmick, as these switches might give you an advantage. The left button requires more actuation force, making it great for FPS games. It feels tactile and the balance here is phenomenal. The switches feel comfortable but are more rigid than Omron switches. It’s hard to say which is better since they are different switches entirely.

Some gamers might find that they enjoy Huano switches more than Omron. That’s all the more reason to give this wireless gaming mouse a shot. 

Another interesting aspect is the fact that the right button feels even sharper than the left. It requires a bit more actuation force too, which is fascinating. This means you won’t accidentally open the scope or trigger other actions with the button. 

To sum it up, these Huano switches feel great. They are tactile, sharp, and precise. If you want to improve your game in a competitive shooter and have not tried Huano switches yet, give this mouse a shot.

Mouse Feet, Scroll Wheel, and Cable

It is great to have a mouse with standout features such as Huano buttons, wireless connectivity, and a lightweight shape. However, if you don’t nail the fundamentals, then there’s no reason for buyers to get that mouse. Fortunately, Dream Machines is not one to forget about the basics. We’ve already talked about the buttons, so let’s discuss the cable now.

In 2022, it is standard to use a lightweight paracord-style cable when you’re crafting a gaming mouse. This also applies to wireless gaming mice, as this is the norm now. We’re happy to report that the DM6 Holey Trio lives up to that standard. Dream Machines calls their cable a “shoelace cable”, and it’s very lightweight.

A good mouse cable is one that you barely notice. It should not get in your way when gaming, and that is exactly the case here. The cable drag is minimal and not noticeable at all with this mouse, and the lightweight design means it stays out of your way. Considering this is primarily a wireless mouse, it’s great that they did not cheap out on the cable.

Some manufacturers tend to use lower-quality scroll wheels to cut corners, especially with cheaper mice. Thankfully, that is not the case here. The scroll wheel has well-defined steps, feels smooth, and works great for gaming and general use. 

Finally, this mouse uses black PTFE feet instead of the smoother white feet we see on other mice. While the latter is usually better, it’s not too much of an issue here. The mouse still glides quite well, and most people won’t notice the difference. However, we still would have liked to see an upgrade in this department.

Wireless Connectivity and Battery Life

Both of these aspects are important when you’re talking about a wireless gaming mouse. First, let’s talk about wireless connectivity. Wireless mice have come a long way, and that’s evident with the DM6 Holey Trio. You won’t notice any latency issues or dips in performance while gaming with this mouse. Of course, that is if you are using the RF dongle.

The Bluetooth connection is decent, but we would not recommend that for gaming. While it worked well in our testing, Bluetooth is known to have a myriad of issues, especially with Windows 10. It’s fine for everyday use, but for gaming, you should stick with the RF connection. Of course, you could always plug in the cable if you’re worried too much about latency.

In terms of battery life, this mouse delivers in that department well enough. It’s rated for around 72 hours of use, and our testing falls in line with that claim. That endurance is good enough for a wireless gaming mouse, and you may only find yourself charging it once a week.

Of course, this highly depends on how often you are gaming with the mouse. Still, most people should be fine with the battery life. Furthermore, you can plug the cable into the mouse and use it while it charges, so it’s less of an issue.

Sensor & Gaming Performance

The DM6 Holey Trio uses the Pixart PMW 3370 sensor. You’ll find this sensor in a lot of recent high-end gaming mice. Needless to say, the performance is excellent here. Keep in mind that the DM6 Holey Duo uses a different sensor, the PMW 3335. Both are excellent and that goes to show that the sensor itself isn’t the most important part these days.

Don’t get me wrong, a good sensor is more important, but you could make the argument that mouse shape and comfort are just as significant, if not more. After all, what’s the point of a great sensor if the mouse feels uncomfortable?

Fortunately, most people will feel quite comfortable with the DM6 Holey Trio. If your previous mouse featured an ergonomic shape, you will be one happy customer. It glides well on the mousepad, the tracking is precise and accurate, and the Huano switches make it great for FPS games. 

To sum it up, we have no complaints in terms of gaming performance here. The mouse performs as expected, and competitive players can rejoice as they have another great wireless option to pick from. 

Software Features

When we originally reviewed the DM6 Holey S, Dream Machines had no working software. It turned out that it wasn’t too much of an issue, since the mouse was designed in a way that it worked well without software.

You can change the DPI from the press of a button, change the polling rate from the buttons at the bottom of the mouse, and even turn off the LED lights. That was the case for the DM6 Holey S and remains true with the DM6 Trio. 

However, now Dream Machines has released software for most of their mice, including the one we’re reviewing today. While you can change the usual settings such as RGB lighting, DPI, and polling rate, there’s a lot more to play around with here.

For example, you change the lift off distance, pointer speed, double click speed or the scrolling speed. Furthermore, you can set macros to different buttons, and customize shortcuts. The software is not the slickest looking application out there, but it stays out of your way when not in use.

It is simple, buggy, and works well enough. There’s not much more to ask for in terms of software or features.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the DM6 Trio is an excellent wireless gaming mouse. We have no real qualms with the performance or other major aspects, so that’s already a win in our books. The ergonomic shape means that most right-handed people will find this mouse to be quite comfortable. While ambidextrous fans might feel a bit left out, this mouse uses a safe shape and it’s worth giving it a shot.

Of course, the standout features are the Huano switches, excellent cable, and 3-in-1 connectivity. There are a lot of wireless gaming mice out there, and it is high praise to say that this is one of the best. The only issue with this mouse is the fact that there are mice out there that are similarly priced to this. Natually, some people might gravitate towards those brands.

That comes down to personal preference at the end of the day. For the mouse itself, we can safely say that it nails the basics and exceeds in almost every area that makes a good wireless gaming mouse.

Side buttons are also good with TTC micro switches installed in them. New analog technology results in less than 1ms delay and overall feels very fast.

The XM1-r has an elegant look to it and gives a very minimalistic feel which in my opinion suits the theme of this economical mouse, However, for those of you who aren’t willing to give up on RGB, instead, try exploring the RGB versions for it but bear in mind they do have their drawbacks.

We’re taking a look at the Ajazz AJ390 Gaming Mouse. At first glance, it looks very similar to the Glorious Model O, a lightweight gaming mouse that many love. Fortunately, there is more to the story here.

The AJ390 comes surprisingly close to the requirements of someone who needs a solid ambidextrous mouse. If you can get your hands on the AJ390, it might be worth taking a looking at. We’ll cover that and more in this in-depth review.

Unboxing Experience

Before we get into the details, let’s set the tone first. This mouse comes straight out of China, and an OEM is most likely manufacturing it. With that said, don’t let that turn you away from this mouse. It’s not fair if we judge a product purely based on its origin and price, so this entire review is an unbiased take.

With all of that said, the unboxing experience is quite solid. This was a decent surprise to us, as we weren’t expecting much. The front of the box has a red and black color scheme going on. We have the Ajazz logo and mouse branding on the front with the shiny silver font. Both the sides and the top of the box have similar branding. The back of the mouse has a picture of the mouse in white, along with all of the features. The premium unboxing experience was quite similar to the one we encountered in our Glorious Model D review.

As usual, the features have a short description written below them. You can open the box from the top, and pull out the cardboard sleeve inside. As for the accessories, you get the quickstart guide and another pair of Teflon mouse feet.

Removing the cable and the mouse from the cardboard sleeve is easy and relatively frustration-free. The mouse is wrapped in a soft material.

Design & Closer Look

In the introduction, we said that the AJ390 is quite similar to the Glorious Model O in a lot of ways. Well, the company is not trying to hide this fact either. When it comes to design and aesthetics, this AJ390 can be known as a replica (a very good one, in fact). It has the same honeycomb design with a perforated shell. It can be considered a far cry from traditional mouse designs, such as the one we saw in our Steelseries Sensei 10 review.

We all know by now that the honeycomb design serves one of two possible purposes. The first one is aesthetics, and the second one is to cut down on weight. It’s a bit of the both here for the Ajazz AJ390. While it weighs a bit more than the Model O at around 74g, it benefits from the similarities in aesthetics. This is a design we all know and love. It has RGB lighting on both sides, and even on the scroll wheel. We tried it on an RGB Mouse Pad, and it looked amazing.

Through the holes near the bottom, you can see a plastic bit that shows a glowing Ajazz logo inside. If you want to, you can crack open the mouse and remove the plastic bit to reduce the weight. We didn’t try that ourselves, so, do it at your own discretion.

There is a DPI button that is beneath the scroll wheel. On the bottom, we have four Teflon mouse feet, the PAW3338 sensor, a button for adjusting the RGB, and the built-in game mode (more on that later).

In terms of shape and profile, the Ajazz AJ390 is similar to other lightweight ambidextrous mice on the market. Some might say that it has a generic shape, and that’s a good thing meaning that the mouse is comfortable to use for most people. Since this is a mouse that is a relatively affordable competitor to the big names out there, the main question on everyone’s minds is if the build quality is any good. Well, you’ll be glad to know that it holds up for the most part. A similar design was seen in our Marsback Zephyr Pro RGB Mouse Review, so it seems like this design is trending nowadays.

There is no sidewall flex nor is there any noticeable wobble. But, if you pick the mouse up and shake it inside, you can notice a rattling sound. One last thing, you can buy this mouse in either white or black. We received both units, and they both look great. It’s all up to personal preference. The only issue with the design is the tacky AJ and Ajazz logos. Not quite a big deal, but it might ruffle some feathers for a few people.

Comfort and Grip

I’m a Logitech G402 grip kind of person, and I think the Ajazz AJ90 has an ambidextrous shape. Fans of that style will feel right at home here. However, keep in mind that it only has buttons on the left side, so it’s not a “true” ambidextrous mouse. Surprisingly, the mouse feel is similar to the one we experienced in our Zowie EC1 review, just with a lighter weight.

The rear flare on this mouse is subdued compared to the Zowie FK1, but it follows most of the same basic principles. Even the buttons end at the same point, however, the base is a bit shorter here. It has a flat top with curved sides and a gradual slope from back to front. With that said, it does have better comfort grooves on the buttons. We’re sure that this design wasn’t intentional but it sure comes close to the FK1 and Glorious Model O.

Out of the box, the comfort is very close to being perfect. The mouse comes in at 69g, which is super lightweight for a mouse like this. Moving on, the mouse is perfect for both fingertip and claw grips. You can palm grip this mouse if you have medium or smaller-sized hands. However, our testing shows that fingertip and claw grips provide the best aim. We can say that this is a medium mouse so it can fit the bill for most people.

No matter the grip style or hand size, this mouse will be comfortable for most people. Thankfully, the honeycomb pattern doesn’t dig into your palm either. Some people might be sensitive to this thing, so it’s worth pointing out. Keep in mind that this pattern is on the lower side of the main buttons and the bottom as well.

Buttons, Scroll Wheel, and Cable

This is where the similarities between the Glorious Model O and the Ajazz AJ390 come to an end. Whether that’s for better or for worse is up to you. We’ll just list the facts for you. For starters, the buttons are very different compared to Omron Switches. Instead, the AJ390 uses Huano Blue Shell Blue Dot switches. This quality certainly doesn’t hold a candle to the quality we saw in our Steelseries Rival 600 review, for instance.

The clicks are somewhat heavy and loud. Again, some people might prefer this, while others will not. These switches have gold plating on them and are rated at 50m clicks. They require an actuation force of 70g or so. The click weight feels medium-heavy, but they do have a bit of pre-travel. In conclusion, these are great buttons if you like a mouse with heavy clicks.

Moving, on the scroll wheel is also quite good. The wheel rotation is smooth and has minimal tactile feedback. Other than that, the cable is flexible and lightweight but doesn’t come close to an aftermarket paracord cable. It gets the job done, don’t get us wrong, but we have definitely seen and felt better cables in the past.

We also might as well talk about the mouse feet in this category. They are your standard Teflon black feet. Nothing out of the ordinary here. Still, they track well and are very responsive. Of course, it’s unfair to compare these to hyperglide feet. It’s not near the quality of virgin-grade PTFE, but we can look past that for the price.

Sensor and Gaming Performance

The Ajazz AJ390 is equipped with a PMW 3338 sensor. Now, you might be surprised by this, but it’s hard to tell the difference between this and a 3360. Well, if you’re extremely familiar with a 3360 sensor, you might be able to tell the difference. But, the chances of that happening are very slim.

The sensor has a max DPI of 16,000 which is configurable in the software. It has a nominal acceleration of 40G, and a max tracking speed of 400IPS. Not bad at all, at least on paper. Fortunately, it also holds up in real performance. Combine the comfortable shape with this sensor, and we have a recipe for near-perfect gaming performance.

It’s easy to land headshots with this mouse, and after seeing it with our own eyes, the Ajazz AJ390 leaves us with quite a good impression. Any sort of anomalies like jitter and acceleration are not noticeable in our Ajazz AJ390 Lightweight Gaming Mouse review. However, we did have to tweak this with the software out of the box. For us, the mouse acceleration was enabled in software out of the box. This very well might have been an issue on our end.

However, once we got it working, we had little to no complaints. People who buy this mouse thinking it’s a cheap alternative are going to be impressed. You surely can’t expect much from a mouse this cheap, but the AJ390 manages to deliver on its promise of performance.

Software

The actual software for the mouse is not exactly easy. You can find their official website, but most of it is completely in Chinese. Of course, that’s nothing Google Translate can’t fix. You can also find the software if you search it on Google and do a bit of looking around.

Once the software is downloaded, you can do the usual stuff. You can configure anything you want in this software. As usual, you can change the polling rate, and increase or decrease the DPI in steps of 100. You can also configure the lighting by using the button located at the bottom of the mouse. Speaking of which, we have to address the elephant in the room.

At the bottom, just below the sensor, there is a button that you use to change the lighting. You can also use this button to turn on the game mode, which is interesting. Basically, this mode will run a recoil suppression script in some games. This works out of the box in PUBG, and you’ll have to configure it for certain games.

Now, there’s no way to spin it. This is a form of cheating. Games with strict anti-cheat systems like Overwatch, CS: GO (Also a mouse enthusiast’s realm), and others can pick up on this. You may or may not get a ban or restriction on your account. We highly advise against using this. Honestly, it’s a bit of a strange feature, and shouldn’t be the sole reason for you to get this mouse.

Conclusion

Overall in our Ajazz AJ390 Lightweight Gaming Mouse review, we found this mouse quite surprising and impressive in the end. Some might write this off as another Model O clone. While it’s not anything innovative, it doesn’t have to be a price that is under $25. It’s always great to have options. The design is decent, the build quality isn’t too bad, and the performance is up to par. If you want to save a few bucks on a good gaming mouse, this is one worth considering. That is if you can find it easily in your country. For fans of ambidextrous mice, this is an excellent value.

Because of that, we are seeing new companies pop-up all the time. Glorious, G.Wolves, and EndGame Gear are a few examples. Another one happens to be Dream Machines. Dream Machines is heavily underrated, as they make great gaming peripherals and laptops. We feel it’s important to get the word out, as it is always great to have options for the consumer.

With all of that said, we are confident that the Dream Machines DM6 Holey S is a gaming mouse that is worth your attention. It has a lightweight design, great comfort, and a few tricks up its sleeve. In this in-depth review, you’ll understand why we are impressed with this mouse so much.

Packaging and Box Contents

We have a lot to talk about when it comes to the Dream Machines DM6 Holey S. However, we need to get the unboxing out of the way first. Coming from a small company in Poland, we were quite frankly impressed with the decent unboxing experience here. The box is small, compact, and stylish. We can easily see this placed proudly on a shelf.

On the front, a picture of the DM6 Holey S is clearly visible. A hexagon or honeycomb-style background accents the picture. This pattern is similar to what you’ll find on the chassis of the mouse. Unboxing is easy and frustration-free. The top portion of the box pulls out to reveal the mouse inside, which is tucked away in soft packaging.

Finally, we are greeted by some paperwork, the cable, and the mouse itself. There aren’t any extra accessories in the box, but we’re not disappointed with that for the price point.

Design And Build Quality

One of the more unique aspects of this mouse is the shape, and we’ll talk about that along with the comfort and grip style later on. For now, we are taking a quick look at the design language and overall build quality. Aesthetically speaking, Dream Machines utilizes a modern design here. Visually, it is quite similar to other mice that have a honeycomb design.

This isn’t a bad thing at all, especially if you like this type of design. All of that is a personal preference, of course. Personally, I think the stealthy black look with a very minimal logo at the top gives this mouse a sleek look. The honeycomb pattern is iconic and easily recognizable. In some places, the hexagon shape is cut in half due to size restrictions, but it still manages to look uniform.

The minimal logo we mentioned before simply says “DM” and stands out just a bit because of the white font. Again, we are fans of this style. As for the shape, the left button or the left area is ever so slightly raised compared to the right. This is what gives the mouse its ergonomic shape and makes it tailored for right-handed users. We’ll take more about this in the next section.

Like other lightweight ergonomic mice, this one has a small hump in the center rather than in the rear. This gradual slope indicates that this is suited for fans of the ergo shape. Other than that, we have side buttons only on the left side, and a DPI button below the scroll wheel. Before we move on, it’s important to mention that this mouse is built like a tank. It doesn’t have any weak points and feels well built all around.

Comfort And Grip

Before I start praising this mouse for comfort and grip, it is important to give a bit of background here. Previously, my favorite shape was the Logitech G703 and subsequently the G603 and G403 as well. This is all subjective, but that’s the shape that works best for me. That is until I got my hands on the DM6 Holey S. I find that I can aim significantly better with this mouse, here’s why:

Compared to the Logitech mice I was using previously, the DM6 Holey S is a smaller mouse. While the G703 might be unwieldy for someone with smaller hands, it is possible with the DM6. Medium-large hands will feel right at home here as well. However, the ergonomics feel noticeably better here.

I use a claw grip for gaming most of the time, and this mouse is perfect for that. It’s not like other grips will feel strange either, as the shape is quite safe. The slight curves are excellent for gripping the mouse. Due to the shape and size, it can work for fingertip grip and might be even better for palm grip. It is also quite lightweight and comes in at 69g.

Furthermore, the thumb rest also feels comfortable, and it is in a perfect position. The honeycomb pattern doesn’t interfere with the button area, so it feels appropriate in the hand. However, the left and the right side does have a honeycomb pattern. Surprisingly, this doesn’t interfere with comfort at all.

This is largely due to the uniform feel all around, and the excellent finishing and materials present here. Personally, I prefer the matte texture this mouse has over a glossy finish, although your mileage may vary. A very minor thing to note is that this surface does pick up fingerprints. However, if you take decent care of it, it shouldn’t be a problem.

The matte texture has a chalky feel to it, which helps even more in gripping the mouse properly. I never felt like I lost control of this mouse while playing. Overall, it gets an A+ in terms of comfort.

Mouse Feet, Scroll Wheel, And Cable

Normally, we like to mention the mouse buttons in this section as well. However, seeing as the buttons are the standout feature for this mouse, we’ll cover that in-depth in the next section. For now, let’s quickly go over the scroll wheel and cable.

Dream Machines state that this mouse is lighter, faster, and better compared to their previous entries. They say all of that boldly on their website. Well, you can’t have a mouse-like that and have a cheap cable. We’re glad that the paracord-like cables are now the gold standard, even in cheaper mice.

They call this one a “shoelace cable”, and it’s as light as a feather. Most of the time, I can barely tell that it is even there. There’s little to no cable drag, and the weight doesn’t get in the way. You can’t ask for more from a mouse like this.

A lot of the time, manufacturers cheap out on the scroll wheel to cut corners. Fortunately, the scroll wheel for this mouse is perfectly adequate. It feels smooth and works great in both gaming and browsing.

Finally, the mouse feet are Teflon instead of the new PTFE material we see in high-end lightweight mice. With that said, we don’t feel like this is an issue. The mouse glides like butter on the mousepad, and that’s all that matters at the end of the day.

Huano Buttons

2020 looks like it is the year of lightweight gaming mice. For the foreseeable future, that’s not going to change quickly either. However, it’s tough to stand out when companies are competing for the title of the lightest gaming mouse. The DM6 Holey S has a standout feature that sets it apart: the extra crisp Huano buttons.

So what does that mean for the player? Well, most gaming mice use Omron switches for the primary buttons. These are the standard mechanical clicky switches we’ve seen time and time again. However, these Huano buttons are sharper, crispier, and help for FPS games. They are extremely satisfying and have a lifetime of 20 million clicks.

The left mouse button requires more actuation force than your average gaming mouse. This is incredible for FPS games. Long story short, the balance is phenomenal and feels perfect. It’s light enough that it does not feel uncomfortable, but hard enough to ensure that you don’t accidentally shoot.

Furthermore, the right mouse button feels even sharper to us. This was surprising, and even more so when it proves its worth. You won’t open the scope or accidentally remove the silencer with this button, that’s for sure.

So, to put it briefly, the Huano buttons feel crisp and precise. The main focus is that all of your shots can land on the opponent, and the Huano buttons help with that. We find that this mouse improved our game especially well. We’ll talk about that more in the performance section.

Sensor and Gaming Performance

The DM6 from Dream Machines comes in two versions. Our version is the DM6 Holey S, which uses the newer Pixart PMW 3389 sensor. The other version is simply called the DM6 Holey, and it uses the tried and true Pixart PMW 3360 sensors. Both of these are top of the line and feel excellent.

The Pixart 3389 feels natural, and that’s what matters when you’re in the heat of the moment. Tracking feels precise, and it feels flawless. You can adjust the DPI with a button right beneath the scroll wheel. Speaking of which, the sensor feels excellent in both high and low DPI. Even the liftoff distance is superb. We don’t have any complaints about performance, and it easily gets a 10/10 from us in this department.

Again, the lightweight body, the smooth texture, and the Huano buttons come into play here. This weight helps in maneuvering this mouse quickly, the shape provides a solid grip, and the Huano buttons punch above their weight. It’s surprising to say that this mouse can go head to head with those that cost twice as much, but it truly accomplishes that.

Software/Feature

It’s important to note that for some reason, you can’t currently download the Software for the DM6 Holey S. If you go to the product page or the website, it says “soon” in the download section. We can only presume that software support will be available in the future.

However, you can change the Polling Rate of the mouse with its hardware buttons present below the mouse. You can also turn on/off the LED light that indicates the DPI levels. So, ultimately you don’t even need any type of software to modify these basic things.

Conclusion

All in all, this is a solid gaming mouse, and easily our recommendation to everyone. The shape is excellent for people who are fans of ergonomic gaming mice. Ambidextrous lovers might feel left out here, but the shape is easy to get used to and we think it’s worth giving a shot. The Huano buttons are a standout feature here, and it’s surprising how useful they are.

There are few instances where gaming mice can improve your aim, this might be one of those instances. Of course, things like comfort and shape preference will vary from person to person. However, considering the competitive price, we think the DM6 Holey S is an excellent gaming mouse to buy in 2020.

The SteelSeries Rival 310 aims to fix those issues. While it has the name of the Rival 300 series, it is actually much closer to the Rival 700. We think that the Rival 310 is the perfect sweet spot for most gamers. It sits right beside its brother, the Sensei 310 in the SteelSeries gaming mice lineup. We doubt that SteelSeries needs any introduction at this point.

They were one of the first companies to capitalize on the rise of gaming mice, Through the years, they have earned a lot of respect from Esports players and enthusiast gamers. SteelSeries has succeeded in pushing professional gaming to new boundaries. The Rival 310 is cold hard proof of that.

The Rival 310 has 12,000 CPI, bright RGB lighting, great split-trigger buttons, and a comfortable shape. It uses an ergonomic shape that is tailored to fight right-handed users. It works quite well for all grip styles. With all that said, let’s have a closer look at this mighty offering from SteelSeries.

Packaging And Box Contents

The Rival 310 arrives in the excellent SteelSeries packaging that we all know and love. The company pays attention to detail, even with the box itself. The front side of the box shows off a picture of the mouse, and a few features are viewable at the bottom left corner. On one side, we have a side profile of the mouse, while the other lists the specifications.

The back rear side of the mouse breaks down all of the features briefly. Moving on, the unboxing experience remains unchanged from other SteelSeries mice. The cardboard sleeve holds a black box inside. Inside of this box, the mouse sits nicely surrounded by soft packaging. Of course, we have our usual paperwork. Other than the mouse, there aren’t any fancy extra accessories here. We’re not surprised, as this thing means all business.

Design And Closer Look

The Rival 310 has a very minimalistic and stealthy design. Well, this can hold true for most gaming mice that SteelSeries makes. The sides have excellent texture silicone grips, which give the mouse an almost two-tone look. A matte plastic texture covers the rest of the body. This plastic surface is soft to the touch and feels nice in the hand.

The Rival 310 weighs about 88.3 grams. This is slightly lighter than its brother, the Sensei 310, which ways about 92 grams. Speaking of which, the main difference between both of these mice is the shape itself. The Sensei 310 is an ambidextrous mouse. It can be used by both left-handed and right-handed users. On the flip side, the Rival 310 is an ergonomic gaming mouse that is tailored to right-handed users.

Both of these mice focus on excellent performance and accuracy. So, while the shape is a bit different, the philosophy remains the same. They usually cost the same as well, although they do go on sale every now and then. The Sensei 310 is available in different colors as well. The Rival 310 gets some special treatment, as it has a PUBG and CS: GO addition.

We have the standard black Rival 310 on our hands. All things considered, this is a great looking mouse. While it is unmistakably a gaming mouse due to the shape, it can fit right into an office cubicle as well. Apart from the RGB logo, it does not have any flashy design features to show off.

It has six buttons, two of which are placed on the left side. SteelSeries calls the primary left and right buttons “Split-triggers”. This is likely due to the fact that they are spaced wide apart. The raised middle section separates both of these buttons. Overall, this feels like a noticeably even better offering than previous gaming mice from SteelSeries.

The construction, build quality and feel in the hand all feel great. There is no creaking in the chassis, and no area feels particularly weak. Just like the Sensei 310, the textured rubber side grips might wear out a bit over time. However, that’s not an issue in the immediate future.

Shape, Comfort, And Grip

We are aware of the fact that many people prefer the shape of the Rival 310 and swear by it. It’s not difficult to see why. It uses an ergonomic shape that is perfect for right-handed users. Note that there is no rubberized coating at the top, as the Rival 310 uses soft plastic instead. However, it will eventually pick up on finger marks.

The split-triggers are spaced widely apart, and this helps a lot with comfort. This is why so many people love this shape. It has a design that keeps your fingers straight on the mouse buttons. While it’s debatable if this has an effect on accuracy, it does feel more natural. The back of the Rival 310 fits the curve of the hand perfectly. There are still no comfort grooves in the buttons, but the split-trigger design does help.

A subtle curve is present on the left side where you can rest your thumb. This slope goes outwards towards the top, which should help when picking it up. This also helps you to grip the rubber texture, without hitting the side buttons. The rubberized padding grip is the same on both sides, and the texture along with the subtle curves helps a lot for the grip.

The three mouse feet at the bottom glide nicely with very little resistance. Other than that, the button slope is gradual, and the mouse has a hump towards the back. Depending on hand size, it will suit all grip styles comfortably. Furthermore, the weight distribution feels great, and it focuses near the sensor. This goes a long way in improving the overall comfort.

SteelSeries always pays a lot of attention to design and comfort. The Rival 310 is no different. We can confidently say that this mouse is excellent for the shape it offers.

Buttons, Scroll Wheel, And Cable

A raised section in the middle serves the purpose of separating the primary buttons on the Rival 310. This is right around the area of the scroll wheel. SteelSeries calls this a split-trigger design, and it does its job quite well. These buttons use Omron switches, that proclaim to have a lifespan of 50 million clicks. Omron switches are easy to activate and feel responsive. Accidental clicks are not an issue with this mouse.

The switches sound crisp and clicky, as we expect from a good Omron switch. After a bit of time, accustoming to the sound of the switches is easy, and they feel satisfying at the end of the day. The buttons on this mouse still manage to compete with many of the newer mice on the market right now.

The scroll wheel feels great for browsing. It has well-defined steps and is easy to use. The middle click is pushed in a little bit, and there’s no chance of pressing it by mistake. This is something not many manufacturers pay attention to, so it’s good to see. However, the scroll wheel does feel a little soft at times. A CPI button sits right below the scroll wheel, and this is a good place for it.

A braided cable might have been nice to have, however, the soft rubberized cable gets the job done. Its length is about 2 meters, which is sufficient for most setups. The USB-A end of the cable has the SteelSeries logo on it so that it is easy to find in a mess of wires.

Sensor And Gaming Performance

The Rival 310 utilizes the TrueMove 3 optical sensor. This same sensor is present on the Rival 600 and Sensei 310 gaming mice. It is one of the top sensors in the gaming mouse industry to this day. An excellent 1:1 tracking performance and the buttery smooth performance speaks for itself. Pair this with a high refresh-rate monitor, and you’ll have a great competitive edge.

The sensor provides zero-latency and essentially no input lag all the way up to 3500 CPI. When we go above that, jitter reduction kicks in. This is so that the sensor can control the cursor without any issues. This is not an issue if you play at high sensitivity, since the accuracy still manages to retain its quality.

Other mice tend to suffer at this, especially budget mice. The TrueMove 3 sensor still manages to keep up with the competition. After taking a look at the lift-off distance sensor in the Rival 600, we wish this mouse had it as well. Unfortunately, this mouse was released before the Rival 600. Even without that extra sensor, this mouse manages to feel natural and responsive.

So, the hype is real after all. The precision, accuracy, and performance that this mouse has to offer speak for themselves. For the price of this mouse and the value that the sensor offers, we would be surprised if you were to find better tracking accuracy elsewhere. At least in this price bracket.

Software Experience

The software experience remains the same for all SteelSeries mice. That’s not a bad thing, as the SteelSeries Engine 3 software is a joy to use. Unlike other software, this one does not have any bugs, and it has never crashed on us. It could use a modern touchup, but it does what you need it to do. Good software should be out of your way and easy to use when need be.

That is exactly why we love the SteelSeries Engine 3. It represents a “set it and forget it” kind of mentality. Once you’ve fine-tuned this mouse to your liking, you don’t need to hop into the software every now and then. Things like button remapping are simple and easy to understand. Adjusting the CPI can be done in increments of 100. You can only set two levels of CPI for this mouse, which is a bit disappointing.

As usual, you can alter acceleration, angle snapping, and polling rate settings. Apart from that, the mouse has onboard memory, so your settings won’t be gone if you move to a different PC for some reason.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Rival 310 is an excellent gaming mouse that lives up to SteelSeries legacy. There is a lot to like here. However, the standout feature is still an excellent TrueMove 3 sensor. Sure, other gaming mice might have extra bells and whistles, but the Rival 310 is all business. The comfortable shape and responsive buttons provide a great competitive experience.

While no gaming mouse is perfect, as shape and comfort are entirely subjective, the Rival 310 is one of those few that comes close. We highly recommend you take a look at this one.

However, this also means that finding a gaming mouse is even more difficult than before. Despite that, if you’re looking for an ambidextrous and lightweight gaming mouse, the Sensei 10 is worth taking a look at. It has a lot going for it, and it could be an easy purchase even in this crowded market.

This mouse is based on the original Sensei mouse that was released in 2009. It has the same shape and returns here after a decade. We know a lot of fans of that mouse have been looking forward to the Sensei 10. Since SteelSeries have been focusing more on sensor performance recently, this uses its brand new TrueMove Pro sensor.

We’ll be looking at the design, performance, and everything in between. Let’s see if the Sensei 10 is worth your money.

Packaging And Box Contents

The SteelSeries Sensei 10 is focused on simplicity. There are no fancy gimmicks or bells and whistles here. That thought process also shines through in the unboxing experience. The front of the box has a picture of the mouse, and so does the left side. As for the right side, it has all the specs and the back breaks down all of the features.

After cutting the seals, you’ll find that you can pull the orange box out from its sleeve. The front of the box boldly says “Bow To The Master”. Pull the tab and we’ll be greeted by the mouse itself. It is packaged safely around a soft material, along with some paperwork. Not much in the way of accessories here. 

Design And Closer Look

As we mentioned in the introduction, the Sensei 10 is based on the original Sensei mouse. This is a return of the iconic ambidextrous shape we saw originally in 2009. Some would say that certain designs are timeless, and we tend to agree in the case of the SteelSeries Sensei 10. The design language here is minimal and sophisticated.

This mouse isn’t loud or obnoxious in any way. It’s a competitive accessory after all, so what matters is the performance. It lacks the flashy design we’ve come to expect from other gaming mice. To be clear, this is a good thing since you can easily sneak this one into an office. We doubt anyone is going to bat an eye.

The body is all-black which is only separated by the RGB illuminated SteelSeries logo and the RGB scroll wheel. On the upper left side of the mouse, we can see a small Japanese and Chinese character, which translates to “heaven”. The best part about this mouse is the soft-touch matte finish.

As for the weight, it comes in at 92 grams. So, it is lightweight but still feels substantial. We can’t help but compare it to other mice in this price bracket. The Razer Viper is much lighter compared to this, and so is the Glorious Model O. However, we know not everyone is a fan of an ultra-lightweight mouse. So this will come down to personal preference. 

While we can’t really find any fault in the body of the design itself, there is a small issue. That issue lies with the cable. It is not a paracord or soft braided cable, so it’s less flexible than the competition. Even other rubberized cables are more flexible than the one on here. Depending on your play style, this can make a bit of a difference.

Comfort And Grip

As we’ve mentioned several times till now, the Sensei 10 is an ambidextrous gaming mouse. This means that both the left and right sides are identical. An ambidextrous mouse doesn’t contour to your hand as an ergonomic mouse would. That’s the point of an ambidextrous mouse since it is a safe shape and easy to manoeuver.

SteelSeries knows how to create the perfect ambidextrous shape, and that knowledge shines through here. The inward curves give the thumb and ring finger a natural place to rest. The low-profile design allows you to easily reach the scroll wheel. You can lay your wrists however you like with this mouse.

It is extremely comfortable for all grip styles. Whether you’re a palm, claw, or fingertip gripper doesn’t matter to this mouse. We found that it works particularly well for claw grip, but the versatile shape means it will be comfortable for most people reading this.

We talked briefly about the soft-touch matte finish above. Well, this really comes into play for the overall comfort of the mouse. The entire surface feels sophisticated and tailored to our hands. Of course, your mileage may vary, but this is an excellent shape. 

Buttons, Scroll Wheel, And Cable

The SteelSeries Sensei 10 has eight buttons that are in a standard layout. We have the primary left and right buttons, a pair of side buttons on each side, a DPI shift button, and the scroll wheel button. First off, we’ll begin by addressing the scroll wheel. 

The scroll wheel here is low into the body, which a lot of people will prefer. The middle click is light yet quite responsive. Unfortunately, the scroll steps are very light and not well defined. You can’t quite feel the tactility behind them. 

When using the mouse, the opposite side buttons will be out of reach so you can’t press them. The primary buttons use mechanical switches which are rated at 60 million clicks. These switches are a bit muted but feel crisp nonetheless. We’re fans of all of the buttons that this mouse has to offer. 

The biggest flaw for this mouse is the cable itself. Everything else about this mouse is great, and there isn’t anything wrong with it. However, the cable feels quite cheap and doesn’t feel like it belongs on a mouse of this caliber. It kinks up very easily and might end up getting in your way.

Sensor And Gaming Performance

Fortunately, SteelSeries makes up for the cable with its excellent sensor. SteelSeries proclaims that this is their best sensor yet, called the TrueMove Pro. This sensor can easily go up to 18,000 CPI with true one-to-one tracking. The major difference between this and the older TrueMove sensors is a feature called “Tilt-tracking”.

Tilt-tracking does exactly what the name implies. If the mouse is held at a slight angle, for example after slamming it after a flick, tilt-tracking helps retain the accuracy. This is great if you play at low sensitivity, and move the mouse around a lot. 

It sounds like a gimmick, but it does improve accuracy and precision. Not everyone will notice it, but we appreciate the thought behind it. The lift-off distance feels under 2mm, but keep in mind that there is no adjustment for it in the software. 

As for gaming performance, it performs quite well. There are virtually no flaws here at all. The sensor feels natural, the mechanical switches are great, and the ambidextrous shape works quite well. Furthermore, the 92g might seem heavier than the competition on the paper, but it serves its purpose.

Not everyone needs a ridiculously small 50g mouse. If you want something that is lightweight yet substantial and performs without any hiccups, this is a great mouse for that. 

Software

SteelSeries manages to redeem themselves once again thanks to their excellent software. SteelSeries Engine 3 is a joy to use, and much better than any other software out there for gaming mice. For starters, it has never crashed on us, and there aren’t any bugs either. Everything just works, which is easier said than done for some manufacturers.

Everything is well organized and easy to understand. On the left side, we have a panel where we can reassign any of the eight buttons on this mouse. On the right, we have the CPI adjustment menu. You can save up to 5 profiles, and the mouse has onboard memory. CPI shift allows up to 5 configurations.

Once you press the CPI button, it will blink and correspond to the profile number. Other than that, the software has acceleration and deceleration. We also have the usual options to control the angle snapping and polling rate.

Conclusion

We are quite fond of the SteelSeries Sensei 10. It nails down the basics perfectly, and most things feel on-point here. Tracking is excellent, and subsequently, so is gaming performance. The buttons apart from the scroll wheel feel good to the touch as well. A lot of people will appreciate the classic ambidextrous shape.

With all of that said, it is important to be aware of the competition. Both Glorious and Razer (among others) offer lightweight options. Those mice also have better cables than the ones on here. Of course, all of that is a purely personal preference. If you don’t need the lightest mouse money can buy, this is a great alternative.

So, the only real downsides are the cable and the lack of bells and whistles. The cable bothers us a bit, but we don’t mind that SteelSeries cut back on the gimmicks for this one. While it has some tough competition, the SteelSeries Sensei 10 is a great gaming mouse for the right person.

So, SteelSeries want to remain separate from all of that and do their own thing. The result is the SteelSeries Rival 710, an incredibly ambitious gaming mouse. SteelSeries is a company that has a lot of respect in the competitive scene. This is thanks to their great sensors, performance, and durability.

All of that continues with their Rival 710. We applaud SteelSeries for trying to add new features to this gaming mouse. With that said, we are here to find out if they are worth the extra cost. This is an in-depth review of the SteelSeries Rival 710. By the end of it, you’ll hopefully be sure if this mouse is for you or not.

Packaging and Contents

The unboxing experience for SteelSeries products is quite simple at this point. They have the usual orange and white color scheme for all of their boxes. We always appreciate a good looking box to put on the shelf. As usual, the front of the box has a picture of the mouse and all of the main features. The left side has a picture of the mouse, while the other has all the specs.

Last but not least, the back of the box briefly breaks down all the features available with this mouse. The actual mouse is inside the usual black cardboard box that you can pull out from the sleeve. Finally, we are greeted by the Rival 710 which is tucked away nicely in soft packaging. 

We get two cables inside of the box, one is braided and the other is rubberized. Apart from that, we get a quick start guide and paperwork. For some reason, SteelSeries also provides a laser sensor if you order from their website. Surprisingly, the sensor on the Rival 710 is removable. We always appreciate extra accessories, but this is a bit strange.

Optical sensors are the norm, and the sensor on the Rival 710 is one of the best out there. So, we don’t see why anyone would want to switch to the laser sensor. We can’t really call this a flaw, but it is quite bizarre. 

Design and Closer Look

While other manufacturers are moving towards the trend of creating small and lightweight mice, SteelSeries is going a different route. They know that there is still a huge audience that demands large gaming mice. And there’s no mistake about it, the Rival 710 truly is a large mouse.

Now, this is either by design or because of the number of features SteelSeries wanted to cram in here. This mouse has an OLED display on the side. This displays information depending on the game you’re playing. You can customize images, or make it display a GIF. However, it is entirely black and white. The feature is there if you need it. We think it’s a novelty but an interesting thing to show off nonetheless.

Of course, you can use a screwdriver to entirely remove the excellent optical sensor from this mouse. Maybe SteelSeries plans to release new sensors, and you can upgrade to those. However, none of that is confirmed, so take it with a grain of salt.

While this is a large mouse, it is surprisingly comfortable in the hand. Instead of hard plastic, the Rival 710 uses a soft-touch material that covers almost the entire body. For longer sessions, this is one of the best gaming mice we’ve tried.  The entire mouse feels premium and screams of quality. It has two-zone RGB lighting as well, which further adds to the futuristic look of the mouse.

Comfort And Grip

The Rival 710 is a large and heavy gaming mouse. It weighs in at 135g, which is much more than your average medium-sized mouse. However, we know that many people are fans of this style, and we have to agree with them. If you don’t mind the size or the weight, this is an excellent gaming mouse.

The front of the mouse is flat enough that you can comfortably palm grip it. Even if you have larger than average hands, this mouse will fit you perfectly. You can’t quite fingertip grip it, since the entire surface is so large. Some people might be able to claw grip as well. It’s not a safe shape, that’s for sure.

However, it’s not intended to be. People who are looking for lightweight mice are not going to stumble across this one in the first place. The flat front, the subtle slopes, and the rubberized coating all help with the grip. All in all, we can’t complain too much when it comes to comfort.

Haptic Feedback

We’re willing to bet you never thought of seeing a haptic engine inside of a gaming mouse. Well, SteelSeries has managed to accomplish just that. A haptic engine is located at the back of this mouse. It can be programmed so that it starts vibrating after a certain button press. This could be helpful in MOBA games where you need to keep track of one certain ability.

However, it’s quite different than the rumble feature we’ve seen in most controllers till now. And if you’re wondering, no, it is not compatible with games that have rumble either. It is a cool feature to have, and it could be useful to some folks. However, it’s not really a must-have and doesn’t have wide utility. 

Sensor and Gaming Performance

The SteelSeries Rival 710 uses the same sensor found in the popular Rival 600. We are of course talking about the TrueMove 3 sensor. It is by far one of the most accurate and precise sensors on the market. It features one-to-one tracking throughout the entire CPI range. Rest assured performance is spot on.

The sensor is limited to 12,000 CPI. Sure, this is lower than the usual 16,000 CPI seen in other high-end mice, but that’s not practical is it? Regardless, the gameplay is buttery smooth with this mouse in any game we tried. You don’t have to tweak the mouse for every game either, as the onboard memory and CPI button will handle that for you. 

Compared to the Rival 600, it lacks the secondary sensor used for liftoff distance tracking. While it works well on the Rival 600, we don’t feel like many people will notice this omission. Overall, we’re quite pleased and impressed with the gaming experience provided by this excellent mouse.

Software

The SteelSeries software experience is familiar and easy to use with the Rival 710 gaming mouse. However, since the Rival 710 has a few bonus features, customization opens up even more here. Apart from the usual friendly experience, there is a lot to like here.

Not only can you customize technical settings, but you can also change the look of the OLED display. It can save up to five onboard profiles. This includes visual customizations and button mapping. In the software itself, you can create as many profiles as you want. A fun fact: SteelSeries Engine 3 is one of the few mouse programs that work on both Mac and PC.

Customizing things like the sensitivity, button mapping, acceleration, angle snapping, and polling rate is straight forward. For the haptic feedback, you can set a tactile cooldown timer. This way you can configure it to any program and trigger it when you wish. 

Even uploading an image to the Rival 710’s OLED screen is easy. It’s as easy as uploading an image to the app. The software will do all the work behind the scenes. You can go quite deep into this software. It even has several game and app integrations. While you may not use all the features here, it’s always great to have the option available.

Conclusion

Overall, using Rival 710 is a very enjoyable experience. Hidden beneath all those fun features is a solid gaming mouse. SteelSeries could have just installed their TrueMove 3 sensor inside of a large chassis, and we’d still be happy with it. However, they went the extra mile to include features that are fun to use.

However, there is a fine line between enjoyment and usefulness in this case. When you get this mouse, you’ll feel like you are experiencing something new all over again. However, the novelty for features like haptic feedback and the OLED screen can wear off quickly for some people. Unfortunately, these features also drive up the price. 

On the other hand, while this is an undeniably expensive gaming mouse, we feel like it’s worth the money for some folks. Just because it has some features not everyone will use, doesn’t mean we can deduct points from it. 

It’s an excellent large gaming mouse, with one of the best sensors out there. The Rival 710 is severely underrated, and that’s probably due to the gimmicky features. However, give it a chance and you just might find an excellent gaming mouse for yourself.

The original Sensei mouse was released back in 2009. It is one of the most popular gaming mice ever made. However, at that time, it was using a laser sensor that caused some issues. With the Sensei 310, the sensor has been replaced with an optical TrueMove 3 sensor. This mouse has also been around for some time now. The Sensei 310 is a cult classic, that’s for sure.

It has a 12,000 CPI, split-trigger buttons, RGB lighting, and a great shape. The Sensei 310 uses an ambidextrous design for claw and palm grip users. It’s also one of the few mice that work seamlessly with Windows and Mac. We’ll be looking at all of that and more in this in-depth review.

Packaging and Box Contents

The Sensei 310 is a premium gaming mouse through and through. That sentiment shines through in all areas, even in the box and packaging. The front has a picture of the mouse along with a few features listed at the bottom left. One side has the specs, while the other shows a side profile of the mouse.

The unboxing experience is similar to other SteelSeries mice. A stylized cardboard sleeve holds the black box inside. Inside, we have the mouse tucked neatly with soft packaging. There is also some paperwork, and that’s pretty much it. No fancy useless accessories here. 

Design And Closer Look

The Sensei 310 and Rival 310 were released simultaneously back in 2017. The main difference between these two is the shape. For starters, the Sensei 310 is an ambidextrous mouse, meaning it can be used by both left and right-handed users. On the other hand, the Rival 310 uses an ergonomic shape for right-handed users.

Both of these mice cost the same, so you only have to pick between the shapes. Neither of these mice has any bells and whistles, as they focus on pure performance. The Sensei 310 is slightly heavier, as it comes in at 92.1g. It’s a medium to a large-sized gaming mouse, which is great for palm and claw grippers.

There is the classic RGB SteelSeries logo at the bottom rear of the mouse. The sides have textured silicone grips, which look unique. This gives the mouse an understated minimalistic look. Apart from that, the glossy plastic texture feels great and is much better than anything you’ll find on a cheaper mouse.

As you can see from the photos, we have the white glossy edition of the Sensei 310. The surface is a bit different compared to the matte black Sensei 310. However, it looks much better and will fit in with an all-white setup. This makes the mouse stand out from the crowd as well. It is also available in a glossy red finish.

The side buttons are located on the opposite side of your thumb. Both of the primary buttons are separated by the raised area of the scroll wheel. These buttons are spaced wide apart and feel great. We’ll talk more about that later on. The rest of the body feels much improved over its predecessor, the Rival 300.

Build quality is solid overall, and the construction feels premium. Nothing creaks when you press hard on the mouse, and there is little to no hollowness in the shell. The only complaint is that the textured rubber side grips will likely wear out if used roughly.

Shape, Comfort, And Grip

As for the shape, it uses an ambidextrous design with buttons on both sides. If you find you can accidentally click the buttons on the other side, you can turn those buttons off. This wasn’t a problem for us, however. There is no rubberized coating here on the top, and plastic is present instead. 

The sides of the mouse have a subtle horizontal curve to them. Speaking of which, there is even subtler curve vertically on both sides. This is what makes the mouse one of the most comfortable ambidextrous shapes out there. The back is angled a bit, but you’ll barely notice that. That’s not a downside, as it doesn’t take away from the comfort.

As for the buttons, they don’t have any comfort grooves. However, the raised section in the middle provides some sort of separation. A wide gap is present between the buttons and the shell. While it doesn’t need such a large gap in our opinion, it still manages to feel natural. On the underside of the mouse, we have tapered edges. 

The three mouse feet at the bottom also glide quite nicely. Overall the shape is good, and it will please most palm and claw grippers. It’s a safe shape so you can trust it without even trying it out. We will say that it’s a bit big for fingertip grippers. 

The button slope is a bit gradual, and there is a slight hump toward the back, so you can use it with a fingertip grip with a bit of effort. Again, it might feel a bit too big for some people for that purpose. Furthermore, weight distribution also feels decent. 

As you can gather from all of that information, this is an incredibly comfortable gaming mouse. A lot of different mice are present in the market right now. Even then, a lot of people swear by this shape and refuse to go to anything else. That says a lot about the comfort of this mouse.

Buttons, Scroll Wheel, And Cable

The Sensei 310 has a split-trigger design for the main left and right buttons. These use Omron switches that have a lifespan of 50 million clicks. Omron switches activate anyway you press them, and that remains true for the Sensei 310 as well. The physical separation from the rest of the body also helps avoid accidental clicks.

The switches sound a bit muted compared to new mice out there. However, they feel very satisfying and clicky. They feel a bit soft when you only place your fingers on them. Once you press in, they respond with a satisfying click. At the end of the day, that’s all that matters.

The scroll wheel feels precise and does not skip any steps. The middle click is light and feels fantastic. All of this makes the mouse great for browsing and gaming. Moving down from the scroll wheel, the CPI button is in a nice position. The side buttons have low-travel and an average click. They feel decent, but not anything special. 

As for the cable, it’s not braided, but it uses a very light rubber coating. The length is about 2 meters, and it works great with a bungee. Lastly, the tip of the cable has a SteelSeries logo, if you need to find the cable behind your PC.

Sensor and Gaming Performance

The Sensei 310 uses SteelSeries’s excellent TrueMove 3 optical sensor. It has been around for some time now, and we still love it. The TrueMove 3 has excellent and true 1:1 tracking performance. If you want to use it with a high refresh-rate monitor, you will appreciate this mouse even more. 

There is zero latency or delay if you go up to 3500 CPI. When you go above 3500 CPI, the sensor has to kick in jitter reduction, so it can be controlled properly. This is not a major deal in our opinion, as the accuracy doesn’t fall off too much at this point. 

It is important to note that the Pixart 3360 sensor also has zero latency but only up to 2100 CPI. If you play at high sensitivity, this is the better option in comparison. With all of that said, you most likely will change the sensitivity settings when you move to a new mouse. We find that the Sensei 310 works great at low to medium sensitivity. 

Overall, we’re quite impressed with the precision and performance that this sensor offers. No wonder this same sensor is present in the Rival 600, which is one of the company’s top offerings. For the price and value, the tracking and accuracy are fantastic here. 

Software Experience

So far, the SteelSeries Sensei 310 has proved its worth. However, we’ve often seen great mice fall victim to the atrocities of bad software. Thankfully, SteelSeries has thought ahead of this. The SteelSeries Engine 3 Software works beautifully with this mouse. It’s easy to use, and the menus are easy to navigate.

Button remapping is easy and simple to understand, and you can easily reassign any of the eight mouse buttons on here. The right side holds all the customization for the CPI. You can only set two CPI levels for this one, which is a bit disappointing compared to other mice. However, it’s not a deal-breaking issue.

Other than that, you can configure the acceleration, deceleration, angle snapping, and polling rate. If you want to really fine-tune your experience, this is a solid experience. Last but not least, this mouse also has onboard memory, so all of your settings can be saved on the mouse itself.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Sensei 310 remains one of the best ambidextrous gaming mice to date. There are no fancy bells and whistles here, but the performance makes up for that. The comfortable shape, responsive buttons, and excellent sensor are tailored for a superb competitive experience. There are a few things missing here and there, like the lack of saving more than two CPI levels. Eventually, the rubber sides could wear out as well.

Apart from that, we found no major issues with this excellent ambidextrous mouse. We can wholeheartedly recommend it, especially for the price it is going for these days.

Razer makes all sorts of computer-related hardware and products such as keyboards, mice, etc. and has collaborated with a bunch of well-known games such as Gears of War, etc. Over the years, Razer has made some of the most loved products in the gaming world. One such product was the DeathAdder gaming mouse.

The original Razer DeathAdder wise widely acclaimed and adored by the gaming community as a whole. It had very few weaknesses and shortcomings and the positives far outweighed the negatives. However, over time as other companies started releasing better products, there came a need for a more up to date gaming mouse by the well-known gaming conglomerate. The DeathAdder Elite was released some time ago and now we see that DeathAdder V2. As we delve deeper into this gaming mouse, we will see in which areas Razer has improved and where the shortcomings are. Let’s get right to it!

Unboxing

On the front of the box, you can see the Razer DeathAdder V2 proudly on display. Some of the main features of the V2 are written on the bottom and on the top left of the mouse. There is a Razer logo on the top right. The front and back of the box as well as the left side are black. The different features and qualities of the mouse are written on these sides. While the right side along with the top and bottom are green in color and do not have any specifications written on them.

The box itself is quite easy to open and is free of any painstaking unpacking process. Once you have opened the box and pull out the inner package, you see that it is all black in color. Some of Razer’s previous mice had a green color inner packaging accents. Along with the mouse, you get a user manual to help weave your way through the workings of the mouse. There is also a card by Razer which boasts of them being the first manufacturer of a gaming mouse and still being the foremost to this day. Then there is a card with a Razer logo sticker. That just about sums up the contents of the box. All in all, the box of the DeathAdder V2 contains the following things:

This mouse is a bit on the pricey side. There are many solid competitors of this mouse in this price range that offer more than the V2. As such, customers may want something more out of the box than just the standard stuff. As you can see Razer does give a sticker to be put where you like, but overall, it is pretty standard.

Design and Build

With the original DeathAdder being loved by all for both its precision and quality and its design and shape, Razer has stayed faithful with the old design. There are obviously, a few changes here and there to improve on it but as a whole, it is much the same looking mouse. In many mice, we see there are definite lines or portions made for the left and right clicks that separate them from the palm rest of the mouse. There is no such line for the V2. The left and right-click area gradually begins from the palm rest. The left and right buttons themselves have slight inward indentations to provide a natural resting area for the fingers. As such, the ends of the clicks can be seen to have curves from the front. The sides of the mouse have an inward curve. On the underside of the mouse, it is worthwhile to state the difference in the feet of the V2 as compared to some other mice. Razer has opted for using PFTE mouse feet. This is a non-stick material that is often used for pans and such.

On the left and the right side of the mouse, there is rubber-like padding. This makes for a solid grip on the mouse to ensure it does not slip out of your hand. The scroll wheel has a little pattern on it that allows for easy grip and rolling more accurately rather than the wheel spinning out of control. There is RGB in the scroll wheel and the Razer logo on the palm rest.

The palm rest has a rise and then the mouse makes a slope where the left and right buttons are. The DeathAdder V2 has two buttons on the left side of the mouse. There is a button beneath the scroll and two DPI setting buttons beneath the scroll. In the DeathAdder Elite, they were thin buttons that were joined with one another. In the V2 these are square-shaped buttons and have a clear gap between them. The last button is underneath the mouse beside the optical sensor. This button is used for switching between the onboard memory profiles.

This mouse is connected via a wire. There is no option for wireless connectivity. For wired mice, the material and quality of the wire play a big role in the freedom of movement that the mouse has. For example, if the wire of the mouse is of a flimsy quality, it will start to tear making your mouse less responsive. Braided cables usually take care of this problem as they do not tear easily. Razer has gone one step further and implemented the Razer Speedflex cable for the V2. This cable is a very low friction cable. The low friction it generates causes your mouse to be completely free in its movement. The cable is also really flexible and resistant to cuts and tears.

Features

The original DeathAdder was very highly rated for comfort. The same can be said for the DeathAdder V2. This is a very comfortable mouse. Its shape is such that it enables you to rest your hand on it quite easily. The palm rest rises up and then there is a slope towards the button area. This shape naturally conforms to the shape of a person’s hand. The inward curves on the sides are also useful in this matter as they support the natural grip of a hand. The shape of this mouse is overall, very ergonomic, and comfortable for use. The V2 is also lighter than the previous models, which makes it even easier to maneuver. The low friction cable and PFTE feet obviously make it a point to allow for easy movement across all sorts of surfaces as well.

Razer has used Focus optical sensor and optical switches for the V2. Traditionally mice have been using mechanical switches that work on physical contact. There is a delay between the clicks of these mouse registers due to the debounce mechanism of the switches. The debounce is basically the amount of time required for the switch to come back into position after making the necessary contact for the click to register. This small delay can cause you to end up losing around or dying in your game as even the smallest delay manages to either give you an advantage or disadvantage. In the Razer Optical switches, there is no such need for physical contact. As a result, the clicks are registered without any delay. Razer boasts of a 0.2 millisecond response time of the optical sensor. This is about 3 times faster than the standard response time. Razer also boasts of a 70 million click lifespan of their switches. This is also significantly higher than the average click lifespan which is around 50 million clicks.

The Razer mouse key switches have a clicky noise and are a little stiff than some of the other mice we have seen. If you enjoy the clicking sound of a mouse then you will definitely be a fan of the V2. Razer has also stated that its optical sensor has 99.6 % accuracy with 650 IPS tracking to match. IPS tracking is basically how quick or fast a mouse can be tracked across the screen. With such a high tracking quality, very high accuracy is needed to make sure the mouse is following as you intend it to. It does not get much more accurate than 99.6 % accurate.

The DeathAdder V2 is compatible with the Razer Synapse 3 software. You can use this software to change RGB colors and modes. You can also use this app to program the buttons the V2 to different macro functions as you want to. The V2 has 5 onboard memory profiles. You can set up different RGB combinations and different key bindings for each different profile. This gaming mouse has a maximum of 20,000 DPI which is a big improvement over its predecessors. You can switch between DPI settings via the two DPI buttons beneath the scroll wheel. There are five different DPI levels that you can access thanks to these buttons. Thanks to the Synapse software, you can also set up different DPI levels for the five levels to personalize the V2 to your preference. You can set up different DPI’s for different profiles. Switching between the multiple profiles is easily done by pressing the button on the underside of the mouse.

An issue that is possible with the DeathAdder V2 is its size. If you are a palm grip user than you are unlikely to face any issues even if you are a small-handed person. Although, for claw grip and finger grip users, it can be comfortable if you have a smaller hand size. This is the reason this mouse is often deemed unsuitable for people with small hands. This is a relatively pricey gaming mouse. At the same price and even at a lower price you can find some great competitors to the V2. We feel it should be priced somewhat lower than it is at the moment. The DeathAdder V2 has a 2-year warranty period.

Performance

When it comes to performance, the most obvious thing to be noted for a gaming-oriented mouse is its responsiveness to clicks and accuracy of movement. It is safe to say that Razer has outdone themselves this time in this category. The DeathAdder V2 is one of the most accurate and fast responding mice in the market. Razer boasts of a response time which is three times faster than the standard response time of mice. This mouse is indeed very fast and has a very low response time. The accuracy of movement all across the screen coupled with an extremely low delay response makes this an ideal mouse for gamers. The increase in DPI from previous versions coupled with its accuracy and 0.2-millisecond response rate makes the V2 a top tier pick for all sorts of gamers.

The Razer Synapse is well-known software in the gaming world for gaming peripherals. It is also one of the most acclaimed and reliable software. You can use this software to customize and personalize the DeathAdder V2 in the ways you need it. Doing so is also quite simple and straightforward. Synapse is a very comprehensive app. You are able to set macro functions to your buttons, set RGB light modes, set different profiles for different games all through the Synapse 3 app.

The mouse has Razer optical switches which are clicky and maybe a little stiff as compared to other mouse switches. If you are a fan of having a feel for your mouse rather than a quiet machine you will enjoy the V2. The scroll wheel is an upgrade as well. There were some issues with other mice in which the scroll button got pressed randomly when you were rolling the scroll wheel. There are thankful, no such issues with this model. Also, another plus point with the scroll wheel is for people who use the scroll wheel to change between the weapons in the game. The scroll functions in a way that it does not roll too fast over any weapon and you are able to see all the weapon options you have quite easily.

The mouse feels comfortable through long hours of usage. Its ergonomic design and shape allow for a high level of comfort. The PFTE feet that Razer has used in this mouse allow for easy movement across any surface thanks to their non-stick quality. The Speedflex cable along with the low weight of the mouse makes it easy to move.

Where does the usefulness of Razer Deathadder V2 lie?

The DeathAdder V2 is a mouse for primarily the gaming community. It is clear to see that it is gaming-oriented. The features it has been such that gamers will make use of them the most. The 20,000 DPI and the programmable buttons are specifically made so you can have that slight advantage over your foe in a competition. FPS gamers will particularly enjoy the high DPI capability to get that edge. The programmable buttons are very useful for MOBA games which require you to have a lot of commands at your disposal at a moment’s notice. RGB is also a strictly gamer related or enthusiast feature. You will rarely see any office hardware having a colorful design.

That being said, due to the RGB not being too flashy or bold in design, it is a product that can be used in an office or professional setting. The shape is indeed very comfortable which is a big plus for any person looking for an office mouse. It is lightweight and you do not need to put much effort into moving it around. This adds to the comfort it gives.

Conclusion

The Razer DeathAdder V2 is an upgrade over its previous models; the DeathAdder and the DeathAdder Elite. VERDICT:Deathadder has seen different versions of itself come out and Razer has improved upon them in one way or another. The Deathadder V2 is a great mouse with an ergonomic design and Razer Optical switches. With low latency and a comfortable design, long and continuous gaming sessions will be smooth and problem-free. It is overly emphasized curved design may be uncomfortable for some users however, that should be minor hindrance compared to everything else the Razer Deathadder V2 offers.
