When watching YouTube Shorts, some users report that the feed begins scrolling automatically after a few videos without any input. This disrupts playback and prevents proper viewing.

The most common cause is an ad-blocker extension running in the browser. However, it can also happen if browser privacy features, built-in tracking protections, or even corrupted cache and outdated browser files interfere with YouTube’s ads.

In this guide, we will go through several effective solutions, starting with the most likely fixes and moving toward workarounds.

1. Disable Ad-Blocker Extension

Community reports confirm that this issue is most often caused by ad-blocking extensions conflicting with YouTube. Since YouTube actively restricts the use of ad blockers, disabling them can restore normal Shorts playback and stop the auto-scrolling.

⚠ Note: Turning off your ad blocker may expose you to more ads and tracking. If privacy is a concern, consider using YouTube Premium as an alternative.

  1. Click on the three dots in the top-right corner of your browser.
  2. Go to Extensions > Manage Extensions.
  3. Locate the ad-blocker extension and toggle it off.

2. Refresh the Tab (Temporary Workaround)

If you don’t want to disable your ad blocker and only need to watch a specific YouTube Short, refreshing the tab can help. This reloads the video page and bypasses the scrolling detection temporarily.

  • When the Shorts feed starts scrolling by itself, press F5 or click the refresh icon in your browser.

3. Use an Alternative Browser

If disabling the ad-blocker extension doesn’t solve the problem, try opening YouTube Shorts in another browser. Some browsers (like Brave) have built-in ad blocking, which may still trigger auto-scrolling. For testing, use a browser without ad-blockers enabled (e.g., Microsoft Edge or Chrome in Incognito mode).

If Shorts play normally in another browser, the issue may be related to your primary browser’s settings, corrupted cache, or outdated files. In this case:

  • Clear your browser cache and cookies.
  • Update your browser to the latest version.
  • Reset browser settings or reinstall the browser if the issue persists.

If none of these solutions work, consider using YouTube Premium or follow ongoing reports in the YouTube Help Community for updates on detection changes.

The “This video is unavailable. Error code: 4” on YouTube usually appears when the video player fails to load or play content correctly. This not only prevents playback but also leaves users stuck at the error screen. While many assume the issue is caused by server outages or unstable internet, the most common reason is actually browser-related issues such as ad-blockers, script managers, or corrupted cache. In some cases, temporary glitches on YouTube’s side may also trigger the error.

The most frequently confirmed causes include ad-blocking extensions, userscript managers like Tampermonkey, browser conflicts, and occasionally a temporary glitch from YouTube itself. Before attempting the fixes, it’s recommended to check YouTube’s server status to rule out an ongoing outage. If the issue is global, waiting until service is restored is the only option.

Now that the causes are clear, let’s look at the solutions.

1. Refresh the Page 3 to 5 Times

Minor glitches in YouTube’s player can sometimes trigger Error 4. Refreshing the page forces the browser to request fresh scripts from YouTube’s servers, which clears any temporary issues in the session.

To do this: Click the Reload button next to the search bar 3 to 5 times and check if the video starts playing.

2. Toggle the F Key for Fullscreen

Community reports suggest that pressing the F key to enter fullscreen can temporarily bypass the error. This action forces YouTube to re-render its HTML5 player, which may fix playback bugs when videos fail to load in normal view.

To do this: Play the video where the error appears > Press the F key on your keyboard to switch to fullscreen.

3. Open YouTube in Incognito Mode

Incognito Mode disables cached cookies and temporarily turns off most browser extensions. Since ad-blockers and userscripts are leading causes of Error 4, testing in Incognito can confirm if the issue is caused by your normal browser environment.

  1. Open a new Incognito window in your browser.
  2. Search for YouTube in the address bar.
  3. Play a video and check if the error is resolved.

4. Disable Browser Extensions

If YouTube works in Incognito Mode, then one of your extensions is causing the issue. Ad-blockers (uBlock Origin) and script managers (Tampermonkey) are the most common triggers, as they can block YouTube’s required scripts. Disabling them usually restores normal playback.

  1. Click the three dots in your browser > Extensions > Manage Extensions.
  2. Locate uBlock Origin, Tampermonkey, or any other ad-blocker.
  3. Disable these extensions temporarily.
  4. Restart your browser and check YouTube again.

5. Switch to Another Browser

If disabling extensions does not resolve the issue, your current browser may have corrupted cache or compatibility problems. Testing YouTube on another browser like Firefox provides a clean environment with a different rendering engine, which often eliminates Error 4.

  1. Go to Firefox’s official website.
  2. Download and install Firefox.
  3. Open YouTube in Firefox and check if the error is resolved.

When playing a YouTube video, you may encounter an error with the code ‘0’. This error usually appears right at the start, preventing the video from loading properly. The most common cause is the use of ad-blocking extensions, which interfere with YouTube’s ad system. Another frequent cause is a weak or unstable internet connection that fails to load the video in time.

Before trying the solutions below, check your internet connection and note that a quick restart of your system can also help if the error is temporary.

1. Remove Ad-Blocking Extensions

Ad-blocking or tracker-blocking extensions are the primary reason behind this error. In recent updates, YouTube now actively detects these tools and prevents videos from playing if they are installed. Simply disabling the extension will not work, as YouTube can still detect its presence. The only reliable solution is to remove the extension completely.

  1. Open your browser’s extension settings.
  2. Locate any ad-blocking or tracking-related extensions and click the three-dot menu beside them.
  3. Select the Remove option and wait for the process to finish.
  4. Restart your browser and open YouTube again to check if the error has been resolved.

2. Switch to Incognito/Private Mode

Using a private browsing window disables extensions and does not carry over your logged-in accounts or stored data. This creates a clean browsing session that often allows YouTube to work without triggering the error.

  1. Press CTRL + SHIFT + N (for Incognito in Chrome/Edge) or CTRL + SHIFT + P (for Private window in Firefox).
  2. Open YouTube in the private window and play a video to confirm if the error persists.

If these solutions do not fix the issue, the problem may be linked to browser misconfigurations. Several users have reported that switching browsers (for example, using Firefox instead of Chrome, or vice versa) resolved the error. However, if you prefer not to change browsers just for YouTube, the best option is to contact the official YouTube support team for further assistance.

In today’s era, a content creator’s value is determined by the visibility of their channel. In an effort to increase their reach and make their channel stand out with a higher subscriber count, they often opt for methods such as sub4sub. But is this a practical way to maximize engagement if you truly want to elevate your social media game?

Is Sub4Sub Worth it in 2024
Is Sub4Sub Worth it

What is Sub4Sub?

Sub4sub, short for “Subscriber for Subscriber,” is a trending tactic through which YouTubers gain subscribers. For this to work, a creator subscribes to someone’s channel, and in exchange, the other person subscribes to theirs. There are even several websites dedicated to connecting YouTubers who promote the sub4sub practice.

Many YouTubers, especially those just starting, look for ways to expand their reach. However, before opting for methods such as sub4sub, it’s important to consider their impact. Is it really your best option to boost visibility?

Is Sub4Sub Worth It?

It can be said with certainty that sub4sub does increase your number of subscribers. Moreover, it gives YouTubers a chance to connect with other content creators, which might be beneficial in the long term. Having a greater number of subscribers technically means increased views and the possibility of earning money.

However, let’s slow down here a bit and examine the details of this tactic. While sub4sub may seem like an effective method to increase your subscriber count, let’s not forget the aspect of actual engagement. Usually, people who choose to obtain subscribers this way have no intention of genuinely interacting with the subscribed channel or its content. That kind of derails your plan, doesn’t it?

No interaction means no engagement with your content, resulting in fewer views than subscribers. Not only is this off-putting for anyone who comes across your channel, but YouTube also senses something is off. You have subscribers but no views, likes, comments, or shares because your so-called “subscribers” have no interest in expanding your reach.

YouTube View Counter
YouTube View Count

Another disadvantage is that YouTube no longer promotes your content, seeing as your own subscribers do not enjoy this type of content, leaving little chance for random people to be entertained by it. This slowly kills your channel. What started as a way to enhance engagement results in the deterioration of your channel. That’s some irony, isn’t it?

Better Alternatives to Sub4Sub

Now you might be wondering, if sub4sub is not really worth it, what can you do to increase your subscribers instead? You can gain genuine engagement and subscribers on YouTube by considering these alternatives:

  • Have Patience: Successful channels are not built overnight; they require effort, patience, and persistence. Simply focus on consistently creating high-quality content and watch your channel grow organically over time with a bit of patience.
  • Use Creative Ways to Market Yourself: Short-form content is a great way to increase your visibility and reach your targeted audience. Also, create content on trending topics and hashtags to naturally attract and retain subscribers.

  • Pick an Unsaturated Niche: Instead of trying to compete in a crowded niche, do your research and identify niches with less saturation but a dedicated audience. This will give you a competitive edge and allow you to gain loyal subscribers.
  • Collaborate with Other Creators: Partnering with other creators, either from your niche or a different one, to create content is also an authentic way to attract a more engaged subscriber base.
  • Promote Your Channel: Take advantage of other social media platforms, like Instagram and TikTok, to promote your content. Online communities, such as Reddit and other forums, are also great places to share your videos and drive organic traffic to your channel.

Conclusion

So, if you’re truly looking to enhance your channel’s visibility, where competition can get you far, the right way to do it is also the ethical way. Remember, numbers are not everything; a loyal audience is.

If you are addicted to YouTube Shorts and recommendations like me and often get distracted by them, this article will help you eliminate this distraction. The YouTube algorithm utilizes your previous history to show you similar content that you engaged with previously, making it difficult for you to focus on productive tasks. This can lead to significant time waste, especially if the content is not informative at all.

There are two common ways to disable YouTube Shorts and recommendations: you can either disable the watch history or use an extension to hide YouTube Shorts and recommendations altogether. Disabling the watch history will prevent YouTube from suggesting content based on your previous viewing habits. Meanwhile, using the extension will simply stop YouTube from showing Shorts and recommendations.

1. Turn Off Watch History

Android/iOS

  1. Open the YouTube App and tap on the profile icon from the bottom right.
  2. Then, tap on Settings from the top right.
  3. In the settings, tap Manage all history.
  4. Then, tap on Controls, and then tap Turn Off.
  5. YouTube will ask for confirmation; simply tap Pause to proceed.

Windows PC

  1. Open your preferred browser.
  2. Click on your profile icon from the top-right and select Manage Your Google Account.
  3. Select Data & Privacy from the left and scroll down to the History Settings.
  4. Select YouTube History from the listed options.
  5. Click Turn Off, and then click Pause to confirm the action.

2. Use an Extension

If you spend more time on your PC than on mobile, this might be the best way to disable Shorts and recommendations. With an extension, you have the option to disable features individually. If you find yourself distracted by the Shorts feature, you can disable it. Similarly, if the YouTube recommendations feature distracts you, you can disable it as well.

Extensions modify the HTML of the webpage, giving you the freedom to hide anything on YouTube. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Download the Unhook Extension from the link in your browser.
  2. Once it is downloaded, visit YouTube.com, and you should not see the recommendations and Shorts.
  3. If you only want to hide Shorts, you can simply click on the Unhook extension from the top and turn off all the features except Shorts.
  4. Once done, reload the page, and you should be good to go.

That’s all. By using the methods above, you will be able to turn off YouTube Shorts and recommendations.

Just as one turns to a friend in times of need, many people find solace and entertainment by immersing themselves in the world of videos on YouTube. This online video-sharing platform has become a dominant part of the technological era due to its accessibility and flexibility to host a wide range of video content, including music, vlogs, movies, shows, etc., for the public.

Serving both individual interests and collective needs, YouTube allows exploration of various fields such as business, entertainment, and education. Yet, amidst its prominence, one may wonder: where did the journey of YouTube truly begin?

When Was YouTube Created
When Was YouTube Created

The Original Idea Behind YouTube

Let’s travel back to the very origin, when three friends Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim (former employees of PayPal) set out to revolutionize the landscape of online videos. Originally, the plan was to set up a video dating website where people would post videos of themselves and find potential matches or talk about their partners. Their initial slogan read, “Tune In, Hook Up.”

When Was YouTube Created
Old YouTube Slogan

Upon seeing no success of this dating site, the founders took it a step further and paid women on Craigslist for participation. However, they soon realized this plan was an unsuccessful attempt, hence the focus shifted to providing people with a platform to share any type of video and connect with others instead.

According to Jawed Karim, the inspiration behind this idea was the lack of online records of events like the wardrobe malfunction of Janet Jackson in the 2004 Super Bowl or the tsunami in the Indian Ocean of the same year.

Fueled by their passion to provide a platform for sharing global experiences, the friends designed a website to post all sorts of content and engage with people worldwide. From these beginnings, YouTube rapidly evolved into the platform we know today.

When Was YouTube Created?

While the idea took place in 2004, YouTube finally made its mark in the world by being officially registered on 14th February, 2005 in San Mateo, California, US. What began as a simple aspiration to share video content online by the founders Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim, eventually took the internet by storm, making a prominent name for itself.

The first ever video to appear on YouTube dates back to April 23, 2005. Titled as “Me at the zoo” this 19-second video was posted by one of the co-founders, Jawed, in which he can be seen standing in the San Diego Zoo, making observations about the elephants’ trunks. As of current statistics, this video has over 813 million views and 16 million likes remarkably.

A Rundown of YouTube History

The journey of YouTube from the initial stages to the current phenomenon in the modern world did not happen overnight. Rather this dynamic online video-sharing platform has been constantly evolving for over a decade.

1. The Early Stages

After the beta launch of YouTube in 2005 and the success of the first video posted, people started getting a hang of the versatility this site offered. Milestones such as the first video to hit a million views entered the picture when Nike uploaded an ad of the Brazilian soccer player Ronaldinho receiving his Golden Boots. This further led to the promotion of the company.

In December 2005, YouTube was officially launched for the public having around 8 million views on a daily basis. Investment from firms such as Sequoia Capital and Artis Capital Management improved the site’s accessibility and bandwidth, resulting in greater success.

Then in 2006, the Content Verification Program came into being as a result of the copyright infringement case with NBC, which allowed creators to protect their content from copyright issues. Moreover, they striked a deal with YouTube for the promotion of their Fall’s TV lineup, paving the way for profitable partnerships in the future.

It wasn’t long after that Google stepped into the frame and bought the platform for $1.65 billion. The growth after this acquisition was vivid and exceptional that enabled this site to serve as a source of income for many individuals.

2. The OG Creators

While the people who once ruled YouTube are at different places today, their contribution plays a crucial role in the development of this platform. Videos such as “Charlie Bit My Finger” or “Evolution of Dance” were viral factors in the early days of YouTube.

Starting with NigaHiga or Ryan Higa, his comedy sketches earned him the title of the most subscribed-to channel for 677 days continually. Similarly, Lucas Cruikshank, creating an online persona through the character of Fred, posted videos discussing daily routines. However, he eventually shifted from starring Fred to himself in vlogs.

Fulfilling its entertainment purposes, YouTube thrived on niches related to comedy. Channels such as Smosh and ShaneDawsonTV gained immense popularity for their comedy skits and continued to expand their reach. Moreover, commentary shows like “What the Buck” had a charm of their own.

3. Shift Towards Monetization

While YouTube initially began as a platform to share and engage via videos, it quickly incorporated other interactive features and tools such as ads, rating, subscriptions, feedback, etc., that changed its dynamic in the online world. The launch of the Partner Program in 2007 allowed people to get paid for their content by monetizing their channels.

In addition, YouTube Live led to the inclusion of politics, sports, and other fields, increasing the range of content covered on this site. People started tuning in for live TV shows, elections, concerts, Olympics, and global events, increasing YouTube’s monthly visitors to billions.

The invention of subscription services such as Music Key for free music streaming, ended up being replaced by YouTube Red (now known as YouTube Premium). It offers a variety of additional services like watching videos in the background or offline (and without ads) while sharing a part of the membership fee with the creators.

When Was YouTube Created
YouTube Premium

Then came the testing of ad pods, with the main objective to increase views and monetization of channels. However, the back-to-back ads, although giving the viewers an option to skip if not suitable for them, proved to be controversial as a petition was filed to remove the idea.

Furthermore, YouTube has recently started featuring AI techniques to form effective ad combinations for its users. By focusing on higher engagement and reach of audience, and providing a variety of ad formats, YouTube aimed to yield better results. The use of algorithms took care of categorizing and showcasing content accordingly.

4. The Evolution of YouTube Player

The YouTube player has undergone several changes from the initial set up. When YouTube was newly launched, the video player only had a few controls and a huge logo watermark in the bottom left corner. Gradually, options like the Full Screen, changing playback speed, and automation captions emerged. The addition of new controls has enabled the audience to adjust the video’s playback as per their liking.

5. The Adpocalypse

From 2017 and onwards, YouTube entered a major setback phase called the Adpocalypse which occurred due to a number of factors. Content creators such as PewdiePie faced extreme criticism for creating content considered harsh. Many restrictions were imposed by YouTube regarding the type of content and ads acceptable and violation of these restrictions meant demonetization of channels.

Several big companies including Coca-Cola and Johnson & Johnson either paused or pulled back their ads from YouTube resulting in a massive loss of revenue. The changes in algorithm and strict policies regarding monetization made it difficult for the creators, especially those operating at a small scale, to post appropriate content and earn via YouTube.

6. YouTube Today

Although YouTube suffered great loss by the Adpocalypse, it gave rise to content creators prioritizing transparency like MKBHD and MrBeast. The effort these creators put into their work can be seen by their gradual success, from being an independent entity to becoming a renowned personality and even creating their own brands.

MrBeast

MrBeast, who began by posting videos of stunts and impossible challenges, figured out how to master YouTube’s algorithm all on his own. Now, he is known to be one of the most watched YouTuber and has opened his own website “Beast Philanthropy” and even restaurants! Talk about growing a channel and this entrepreneur is a must mention.

Marques Brownlee, another name dominating in the realm of YouTube, is a prime example of how skills and techniques polish over time and can lead to an independent business.

Starting off as a newbie with a passion in tech, MKBHD began to grow through partnerships with big personalities such as CEO Dennis Woodside and Kobe Bryant, while building up his team and in the long-term creating a brand with firm roots.

7. Recent Changes & Updates

This era of YouTube diversified the content alongside catering to the audience changing requirements by modifying its features. Adding flexibility to the upload limits and prioritizing quality content, YouTube has ensured authenticity of channels and kept a balanced outlook.

Moreover, incorporating YouTube Studio has maximized the efficiency of the content being uploaded in accordance with the algorithm. By introducing Shorts (which are 60-second vertical videos), YouTube has given creators versatility in making content and increasing monetization.

Similarly, categorized kid’s content through YouTube Kids allows for a more nuanced approach towards creating a suitable environment for viewers. Apart from that, even the smallest updates such as no dislikes shown in current videos or the changes in the layout of the platform have increased accessibility for users and highlight the need for constant evolution for a better user experience.

The Future of YouTube

While YouTube’s growing significance cannot be denied, the chances of facing pressure from other competitors cannot be overlooked. Hence, to stay in the digital era game, YouTube must stay up-to-date with the ongoing trends and technological advancements, and offer a promising future to the creators and artists.

In the upcoming years, YouTube will focus on exploring other ways for creators to earn money and further increase monetization. While prioritizing a better experience for its users, YouTube aims to implement interactive features that will enhance its effectiveness and viewers reach.

By ensuring a safe community and adhering to strict policies that will address related concerns, the site’s goal is to diversify its content and cater to audiences’ niches. This includes adaptation to different languages, cultures, and regions and users’ demographics.

Moreover, YouTube might work on further incorporating AI for the refinement of its algorithm, allowing for personalized content tailored for each individual. Implementation of AI tools for quick video editing or generating quality captions and descriptions is also a high possibility. To make the platform more engaging and interactive, VR and AR technology integration will enable immersive experiences.

However, it’s critical to note that the future enhancements of YouTube largely depend on factors such as users’ continuous role in creating content, the evolving trends resulting in market shifts and the progression of technology.

Slide down the menu bar from the top and tap on the Wi-Fi icon. This method is the same for both iPhone and Android users. Once it turns gray, wait for a minute or two. Then, tap it again to turn on the WiFi.

3. Clear the App Cache

A cache is the temporary storage area in your device. It has all the basic files and instructions saved from the most frequently visited apps. This saves the system from having to download them again and again.

However, if an app’s cache gets too large, your device performance may start lagging. You may also notice outdated information and glitches in that specific app. Here’s how to clear it:

  • For iPhone Users: Go to Settings and tap on General. Tap on iPhone Storage and find the Search icon in the top right corner. Use it to search for YT Kids. Tap on Offload App.

Deleting the YouTube Kids app doesn’t delete your profile. It only removes the data stored on the device, including downloaded videos, cache, and other unimportant files.

This frees up a lot of space and resolves the issue in the device’s functionality. You can always reinstall the app and log into the account.

To do this, simply long-press on the YouTube Kids app. Depending on the device, either a Remove App option or a small cross button will appear on your screen. Tap on it to uninstall

We all know how annoying it can be when you are watching a tutorial video on YouTube, and you keep rewinding it to get the gist. To make that process easier, YouTube allows users to watch a video frame by frame to inspect all the details at their own pace. While the feature isn’t the most commonly used one, going frame by frame is quite simple. So, without further ado, let’s look at YT frame by frame!

Go frame by frame on YouTube

Watching YT Frame by Frame Using Keyboard Shortcuts

One of the most straightforward methods to watch YouTube videos frame by frame is using built-in keyboard shortcuts. Just like you have specific shortcuts for making your video fullscreen or fast forwarding it a few seconds, you can also go frame by frame using keyboard shortcuts.

Let’s have a step-by-step look at how you can watch YouTube frame by frame using keyboard shortcuts:

1. Head to YouTube

The first thing you’ll need to do is head over to YouTube.com and choose a video that you want to watch frame by frame. You can choose a video right from your feed or if you have something specific in mind, you can also put that to the test.

Open YouTube

2. Pause the Video

Once you have the video ready, the next thing you’ll need to do is pause it by either pressing the spacebar on your keyboard or by simply clicking on it. Remember that the frame-by-frame feature will only work when you pause the video; if you try to use it while the video is playing, the feature will not work.

3. Go Forward or Backward a Frame

Now to go frame by frame, all you have to do is press the “period (.)” key on your keyboard to move forward a frame. On the other hand, if you want to go backward, you can press the “comma (,)” key to move back a frame.

Use keyboard shortcuts

At first, you might miss the difference but once you skip multiple frames, you’ll start to see things move slowly. Make sure you press the key multiple times instead of holding it as the feature will not work if you hold the key to skip frames.

Watching YT Frame by Frame Using a Third-party Website

Another method for watching YT frame by frame is by using a third-party website called “watchframebyframe.” This website allows you to have a little more fun with your frame-by-frame experience by giving options to choose how many frames you want to skip ahead (up to 32 frames can be skipped).

Here’s a quick rundown to watch YT frame by frame using a third-party website:

  1. Head to the watchframebyframe website and select a video from the featured ones or enter a video URL of your choice.
    Open watchframebyframe
  2. Once you have the video opened, make sure to pause it before trying the feature out.
    Pause the video
  3. Now, right below the usual YouTube player, you’ll have the option to watch your video frame by frame. Here, the default setting will be set to 1 frame, and if you want you can also change it according to your preference.
    Adjust frames
  4. Lastly, use the forward and backward buttons to move single or multiple frames.
    Use these buttons

The website also has an option to increase the framerate to 60 FPS for even greater precision. Even at 25 FPS, Watch Frame By Frame offers more accurate frame skips than YouTube’s default player. It’s something to consider if precision is important to you.

Watching YT Frame by Frame Using an Extension

With this installed, you can set your custom keyboard shortcuts to move back or forward a frame.

Additionally, you also have other settings like increasing or decreasing framerates and other preference-related settings to work with.

Here’s a quick guide to using the Frame by Frame extension on your videos:

  1. Head over to the Chrome Web Store and search for “Frame by Frame.
    Search for frame-by-frame
  2. Next, click on the “Add to Chrome” option and pin the extension.
    Add to Chrome
  3. From here, open up the video you want to watch frame by frame and pause it.
    Pause the video
  4. Now, click the extension icon and a small drop-down menu should appear. Here, you’ll have a few options that you can adjust according to your taste such as background color, blur opacity, text color, and more.
    Open up the extension
  5. To set custom shortucts, click on the Shortucts tab. Here you’ll have multiple settings to work with.
    Click on Shortcuts
  6. Click on any of the settings and a dialogue box should open up. Now press the key combination you want to set and hit save
Choose a key combination and hit save
  7. And that’s it! Now press the key combination to skip frames. You’ll also see a small box on your video that will tell you different details related to the frames of the video.

The Unable to Play Video Error 150 occurs on Google Slides when attempting to play an embedded YouTube video. Users have reported that while the first video inserted often plays correctly, subsequent videos inserted into later slides may not. This issue is generally related to playback and can arise due to a variety of factors.

Unable to Play Video Error 150

The primary cause of error code 150 is typically due to restrictions placed by the video creator or by your Google Admin. Other contributing factors to encountering this error code may include:

  • DRM protection
  • Unsupported video format
  • Unstable internet connection
  • Embedded video no longer available or removed
  • Browser or server issues
  • A glitch within Google Slides

Although it’s possible to open the problematic videos directly on YouTube, resolving Error 150 is essential for seamless presentations. Below are a few fixes and workarounds to ensure your presentation operates smoothly.

1. Check Internet Connection

Start by considering if it’s a temporary network issue. Refresh the page or check your internet speed. If network connectivity is poor, switch to another network or wait for stabilization.
internet speed

2. Ensure the Videos Are Still Publicly Available

Error 150 may occur if the video URL no longer exists due to deletion by the user or by YouTube for various reasons. Confirm the video remains available on YouTube before exploring further solutions. If the video is removed, you will not be able to play it unless you can contact the content creator.

this video has been removed by the user error

3. Disable VPN

Content restrictions placed by YouTubers or YouTube itself may block video access in certain regions. If you enabled a VPN after embedding videos and now face ‘Unable to Play Video Error 150’, try disabling the VPN to see if the issue resolves.

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go to Network & Internet > VPN.
  3. In the VPN Connections section, select the desired VPN and click Disconnect.
    disconnect vpn

4. Request Video Embedding Permissions from the Creator

If embedding has been disabled in the video settings, this will result in Error 150. If you are the video owner or have contact with them, enabling embedding in the video settings is required.

  1. Login to your YouTube account.
  2. Access your profile.
  3. Choose YouTube Studio.
  4. Click on Content on the left pane.
  5. Locate the relevant video and click on the edit pencil icon next to it.
    YouTube Studio
  6. Scroll down and click on Show more.
  7. At last, go to the License section and enable the Allow embedding option.
    allow embedding in youtube settings
  8. Click Save.

5. Request Google Admin to Grant YouTube Access

Restricted YouTube access by your admin can prevent embedding if your Google account is part of an organization. The solution is to contact your Admin to amend these restrictions.

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin console with your admin account.
  2. Click the three horizontal bars icon and select Apps.
  3. Click on Additional Google Service.
    Additional Google Services
  4. Select YouTube and then Permissions.
  5. Choose an organizational unit and select Unrestricted YouTube access from the options.
    Google Admin YouTube Permissions
  6. Confirm by clicking the Save button.

6. Use Direct Video Links or Embed Code

If Error 150 persists, use direct links in your slides or the embed code instead of embedding the video manually. For the embed code, right-click on the YouTube video, select Copy Embed code, and use it to re-insert the video.

copy embed code

7. Add the Video from Google Drive

Since Error 150 exclusively affects YouTube-embedded videos, you can add videos directly to your presentation from Google Drive. Use online tools to download YouTube videos in MP4 format, upload them to Google Drive, and then embed them into Google Slides.

  1. Copy the YouTube video URL.
  2. Visit your chosen MP4 converter and paste the URL. Avoid clicking on redirected links, which are often ads.
  3. Navigate to Google Drive, sign in, and upload the downloaded video.
  4. In Google Slides, open the necessary presentation.
  5. Select the Insert Video.

  6. Then choose Google Drive and add the video from there.
